There is something to say about the love I have for newborn babies. Each time I see them, in their sweet new-ness, makes my heart melt. The only thing better than one baby, is TWO of them! Moms of multiples are true heroes. I am in awe of each birth story, especially twins. The journey it took for them to arrive, any history of twins running in the family, the fertility paths that led to sweet miracles, I want to hear it all. Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude that they are here, and I am lucky enough to photograph them.
Why Newborns Sessions Take Time
As a photographer, I have always looked for challenges. I want to do more, be better, never stop learning and perfecting my craft. Finding my love for newborn photography started when my family was a foster parents to newborns. Newborns are the most time sensitive session I take. We are always on “newborn time” and a session is never rushed. It takes a significant amount of patience from the baby, the parents, siblings, and the photographer. Taking the session when babies are 10-17 days old helps insure they are still very sleepy for their sessions. We allow time and breaks for feeding, changing, and rocking them to sleep. Awake and alert photos are also cute too!
I always tell parents, it may only be 1 hour of actually photographing, but if they want they really sleepy photos, it will take time. I have had sessions last up to 4-5 hours. This is not photographing the whole time. However, if you are a mom, you know some babies take 45 minutes to eat! If all the stars align, sessions are in-out in 2 hours. If baby needs to be changed multiple times, fed, and soothed back to sleep, the process is much longer. I want my moms to know whatever schedule or no schedule you are on, I will happily accommodate your family.
Know someone having twins?
I love photographing newborns, especially twins. If you are pregnant with twins, or know someone who is, please send them my way! I love photographing multiples and as always, the more, the merrier~!
