One year sessions in my home studio in Crowley, La is one of the most fun things to photograph. The first year in a babies life quickly flies by; capturing them while they are little is important. John Ross came dressed in the cutest Shrimp & Grits outfit and Sun san sandals. I captured him rolling a wooden duck across the floor and reading stories pointing to what he liked most. His mom was trying on clothing from the Curated Closet for their second part of their session all while I was taking these photographs. His big brown eyes looked up at me, I melted into a pool each time.
When starting a photography session, I tell moms the best portraits are taken in the first 15 minutes. Usually children are timid and not quite warmed up to me so I can get those lovely serious faces. I follow them around as they curiously check out my space. Some babies are all smiles in the very beginning, so it is important to have them dresses and ready to start session. The attention span of a child that age is not long, so I do my best to get any many portraits in the first few minutes. John Ross was exceptional, as I kept telling his mom. He has the calmest spirit and didn’t cry once! You can see the outdoor session we did at the Crowley Property, here. He was very laid back and enjoyed being photographed.
Are you thinking of having portraits done in my home studio? I’d love to see you here!
