Maternity Session in Louisiana Landscape

Nothing says southern Louisiana like Avery Island, the drippy moss, flat land as far as your eyes can see, the smell of muddy river water. I love photographing this maternity session in Jungle Gardens in Avery Island because it has all of the above. Every time I visit, I feel inspired by their lush landscape and scenic paths. This time proved no different. My goal is to create images that are a reflection on the great place we call home while telling the story of everything wonderful about becoming parents in a maternity session.

Lance and Madeline had the most beautiful sunny day for their maternity session. They even brought along their sweet German Shepherd dogs, which is always so much fun to add to the portraits! I enjoy seeing the connection of a couple in the stage of life before they welcome a sweet baby into the world. Their smiles and pure joy surely showed throughout the session. As always, I am thankful to my clients that let me create my artistic vision and trust in my work. Maternity Session in Jungle Gardens New Iberia with dogs

Maternity Photography Session Wardrobe

Photographing as close to sunrise or sunset will give you warm tones you view in these images. When time was ticking after the sun came up from the horizon and Madeline and Lance were not at the venue, I began to worry. A short phone call and we figured out with all of the craziness that is picture day, Lance had forgot his ironed shirt at home. Luckly Walmart is just a few miles up the road, they pulled in to get a last-minute shirt. I think it looked rather nice given our timeline and situation.

My tip would be: If you are bringing a wardrobe from home, pack everything hanging in your car the night before. It will leave less worry for the day of the session. For my personal maternity session for baby Gabriel, I forgot my husband’s pants at home. He only had work pants for the session; imagine how that looked. Even photographers mess up sometimes!
