Lowry Family

Outdoor photography sessions during the Summer in south Louisiana can call for bright sun. During the dog days of Summer, I try to photograph very early in the morning and very late in the evening. It is ideal to photograph about one hour before either sunrise or sunset to get soft golden light. I have been pushing myself to be able to get great images in any type of weather. I prefer the soft light, but sometimes you have to roll with the punches and photograph at high noon or on an overcast day. I think the full sun during this session worked to our advantage; it was a beautiful day in Crowley, Louisiana.

The truth is the first time we scheduled the Lowry family, their sweet baby was sick. Guess what moms? It’s ok and I completely understand when they are sick. I have learned over the years that there are some things we can not change, sickness, and weather being just two of them. I promise I would never want to photograph a session when I was under the weather, so I don’t expect you or your littles would want to either. I think we are all so tough on ourselves when it comes to having a perfect photo session. Remember to give yourself grace and to come as your best selves to the photography session even if that means rescheduling. I want all my clients feel comfortable messaging me if any questions or concerns come about prior to a session.

Would you take a look at their beautiful combination of outfits? Moms often ask if they don’t want to wear a dress, what is the best way to keep with the light and airy style. I think this mom nailed her white jeans and sheer duster! The kids outfits were also beautiful and colored but not over the top. Love for white and neural colors photograph beautifully but pastel colors can also make for eye pleasing imagery.
