Motherhood documented in outdoor field

Photographing a mommy and me in an outdoor field in Crowley La capturing their true love for one another will be one of my favorites. Starting off by requesting the location be somewhere convenient and meaningful to them. Where boys can be boys and moms can laugh and play with them without restrictions.

As the photographer, I started off with styling the client with wardrobe from the Curated Closet. We wanted a vibe that balanced well with the outdoor session. Light colors and soft linen textures were going to tell their story best, which we did with this sweet boys Jon-Jon. Details of her baby boy holding her hand, cupping him so lovingly in her arms, and helping him take his first steps were beautiful moments documented. Most of this session was photographed on medium-format film, depicting the ephemeral quality of childhood and motherhood portraiture.

Aiming to tell their Mother/son story

Details portraits can speak more than any smiling, stiff portrait can. Documenting Mommy and Me is about the little moments, the kisses, the hand holding, and everything that being a mother encompasses. There are hard days, and there are days that we, as mothers, wish we could relive over again. I hope that when she looks at these portraits many years from now, she still gets the same feeling as this documented day gives her.

Motherhood as I see it

These portraits were taken circa 2016 when I was just beginning in my photography journey. Mother-Child Outdoor Photography has always held a deep connection to my passion for photography as an art. However, I still relate to each one, not only as a photographer, but as a mother of little babies. I yearn for the slow days, the mommy and me outings, for the delicate moments that I prayed for before becoming a mom. When you look at these images, I hope it releases an inner desire to spend time with your children, and cherish these fleeting moments as they pass by so quickly.
